5 Myths regarding Chiropractic Care

Written By Aligned Family Wellness on April 29, 2022

Today, we are busting some chiropractic myths. Buckle up.

We have all heard the phrases:

"Chiropractors aren't real doctors.. don't they get their license in a mall?"

"Once you go to the chiropractor you have to keep going"

"Getting adjusted is painful"

"Chiropractors only treat back pain"

"Chiro care is expensive"

"You have to be an adult to be seen by a chiropractor"

1. Chiropractors are licensed and go through extensive training. To become a Doctor of Chiropractic you must not only complete your undergraduate but go thorugh an extensive 5 year academic program.

2. Chiropractic care is not a life-long commitment. While its true certain issues may require frequent visits, you can expect your appointments to dwindle over time.

3. While you may experience slight discomfort or soreness after chiropractic care, most patients leave feeling relief and better than they did walking in the door. Chiropractic care is intentionally designed to reduce or eliminate pain, not to cause it.

4. New patients often delay their visit with the thought of expense, however often chiropractic care is far more affordable than you think. Especially considering the bigger medical bills you can avoid by seeing a chiropractor the moment you need to rather than delaying and beign forced to have surgery, or invasive medical treatment.

5. All ages are welcome at Aligned Family Wellness and it is safe for every age to receive treatment. Dr. Kim Sheppard is certified in pediatric care as well as webster technique. Most believe bringing your newborn to the chiro is dangerous, however it is as gentle as a light poke. Birth is traumatic on your baby's body and they often need adjusted. There are many benefits to bringing your child in for a visit.. but that's another blog.
